Qatar Charity, Eid Charity and Qatar Red Crescent Society receive QR 100,000 each
Doha Bank today announced that it is donating QR 300,000 to flood ravaged Pakistan’s relief and recovery efforts. Monsoon flash floods have killed more than a 1000 and displaced over 20 million people in the worst disaster in Pakistan’s history.
Doha Bank’s donation is being made through Qatar Charity, Eid Charity and Qatar Red Crescent Society, with each getting QR 100,000. The cheques for the amount were presented to the top officials of the three charities by Mr. R. Seetharaman, Doha Bank’s Group CEO and senior DB officials at a special ceremony in Doha yesterday.
H.E. Sheikh Fahad Bin Mohammad Bin Jabor Al Thani, Chairman of Doha Bank said: “We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy and are committed to supporting relief efforts through such respected charities such as Qatar Charity, Eid Charity and Qatar Red Crescent Society. Our thoughts are with all the families that have been affected by the tragedy and with the extremely difficult challenges Pakistan and its people are now faced with. In keeping with the spirit of the Holy month of Ramadan Doha Bank’s efforts are to provide help and hope to those in need.”
Doha Bank has a long history of support to Qatar’s reputed charities which are active in disaster relief efforts around the world, he added.

The donation will help meet immediate needs of victims of the flooding, providing food, shelter and other assistance and their communities to help rebuild their lives,” said Mr. Khalid A. Fakhro, Public Relations & Fund Raising Director at Qatar Charity. Qatar Charity’s emergency relief team has provided the victims of Pakistan floods with urgent relief and was the first Qatari charity to arrive at the flood affected areas.

Seetharman Doha Bank’s Group CEO said: “Recognizing the overwhelming impact of this disaster Doha Bank, in the spirit of the Holy month of Ramadan and in keeping with our philanthropic traditions, is committed to helping Pakistan’s flood victims in their critical time of need. It is our hope that our contributions will help provide much-needed emergency food, shelter and medical care for the affected communities.”
Mr. Adel Ali Al Baker, Director of GM Office at Qatar Red Crescent Society said: “We are working to get essential emergency aid to those who need it most. The scale of the disaster is massive and more help is urgently needed since the numbers are still climbing and more rains are expected. There is a great urgency to delivery much needed supplies to vulnerable communities and we welcome Doha Bank’s aid in support of our efforts.”
Qatar Red Crescent Society has been coordinating its relief efforts through its network of international agencies. It has offered tents and blankets for 300 families in Moseera and Batal area. It also put up a field hospital in Ponjarea which accommodates 45 beds and offers medical services for 250-300 people a day. It will continue for 6 months.
Mr. Khalil Al Qubaisi, Finance Director at Eid Charity welcomed Doha Bank’s support. “Floods waters wreak devastating damage destroying homes and lives. Doha Bank’s aid will help us provide immediate emergency relief and other assistance to help people get back on their feet,” he said
The Eid Charity was established in 1995 under the patronage of Sheikh Eid Bin Muhammad Al Thani, and has since been providing human and charitable assistance to the affected, the needy and the persecuted in areas inflicted by famine, drought and natural & humanitarian disasters.
